California Dreamin' est une chanson du groupe The Mamas & the Papas, commercialisée en single en décembre 1965 ; une version enregistrée précédemment avec Barry McGuire cette même année figure sur son album This Precious Time paru en janvier 19661.
Le solo de flûte est dû au saxophoniste, flûtiste de jazz Bud Shank.
En 2003, ce titre figure en 89e position Les 500 plus grandes chansons de tous les temps.
