Angiolo Tommasi était un peintre italien, actif dans le mouvement Macchiaioli. Lui et ses freres peintres comme lui ont eu une influence sur les arts dans leur Toscane natale à la fin du XIXe et au début du XXe siècle. Tommasi n'exprime pas le sentiment qui anime les peintures de genres de ses contemporains mais impose la dure réalité, pose juste ce que l'œil voit.
