La chanson "Just the Way You Are", que Joel avait écrite pour sa première femme (et aussi sa directrice commerciale à l’époque) Elizabeth Weber, n’était pas appréciée par Joel ou son groupe, et Joel avait initialement décidé de ne pas faire de la chanson une partie de l’album. Mais Joel a déclaré que, à la demande de Linda Ronstadt et de Phoebe Snow (les deux enregistraient dans d’autres studios dans le même bâtiment à ce moment-là), Joel a accepté de mettre la chanson sur le mixage final. Cependant, le producteur de l’album, Phil Ramone, a plus tard contredit l’affirmation de Joel, déclarant dans une interview qu’ils ne pouvaient pas se permettre d’exclure la chanson car Joel n’avait pas beaucoup de choix pour cet album.
