Don't Be Cruel est une chanson de rock 'n' roll écrite par Otis Blackwell et Elvis Presley, dont l'interprétation la plus célèbre est celle d'Elvis en 1956.
Enregistrée le 2 juillet 1956 à New York avec Elvis Presley au chant et à la guitare rythmique, Scotty Moore à la guitare, Bill Black à la contrebasse, D.J. Fontana à la batterie et The Jordanaires dans les chœurs, elle est éditée en simple par RCA le 13 juillet, avec Hound Dog sur l'autre face. Le disque est numéro 1 des ventes aux États-Unis pendant onze semaines à partir du 18 août, et sera remplacée par Love Me Tender, une autre chanson du King1.
Elvis a interprété Don't Be Cruel aux studios Sun Records à Memphis le 4 décembre 1956 avec Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis et Johnny Cash lors de ce qu'on a coutume d'appeler « The Million Dollar Session ».
En 2003, elle a été classée 197e plus grande chanson de tous les temps par le magazine Rolling Stone.
