Les paroles font référence à la dévotion éternelle de Streisand envers son amant. Peu importe les obstacles auxquels ils sont confrontés, ils seront toujours amoureux les uns des autres. Streisand a ouvertement déclaré qu'elle n'aimait pas "Woman in Love" parce qu'elle ne croyait pas au sens des paroles. "Woman in Love", est pourtant devenu l'une des chansons les plus réussies de la carrière musicale de Streisand. La chanson a été écrite par Barry et Robin Gibb des Bee Gees, qui ont reçu le prix Ivor Novello en 1980.
